Job summary

The Fresh Market is seeking a Co-Store Director to partner with the Store Director, guiding daily operations and driving a high-quality guest and team member experience. You will lead multiple departments, shape merchandising to local needs, and ensure consistent standards on the sales floor.

You will recruit and develop leaders, manage store performance metrics, and uphold food safety and regulatory requirements while engaging with the community and vendors.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive management experience in supermarkets, retail, restaurants, hospitality, or general business.
• Demonstrated success overseeing multiple departments or store-wide operations.
• Strong financial acumen with the ability to achieve sales, margin, labor, and operational goals.
• Excellent communication, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Basic proficiency with POS systems, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Food Safety Certification or ability to obtain after hire.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Model and promote our values of passion, excellence, hospitality, and teamwork in every interaction.
• Serve as a visible, accessible leader on the sales floor, supporting team members and engaging with guests.
• Recruit, hire, and develop team members, building a strong pipeline of future leaders.
• Oversee sales departments (Produce & Floral, Meat & Seafood, Bakery, Deli & CMS, and Center Store) to ensure merchandising, signage, and assortment reflect local guest needs and our brand standards.
• Manage key financial areas, including sales, gross margin, labor planning, inventory control, and shrink reduction.
• Partner with department managers to ensure effective ordering, scheduling, and workload planning.
• Maintain full compliance with food safety, sanitation, risk management, and all regulatory requirements.
• Serve as a brand ambassador, representing The Fresh Market with hospitality and professionalism in the store and local community.
• Build strong relationships with guests, responding to questions, resolving concerns, and modeling guest recovery.
• Engage with local organizations, vendors, and partners to strengthen the store’s presence in the community.
