Responsibilities
- Plan machining by studying work orders, verifying blueprints, materials, specifications, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
- Set up lathes/mills by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, and compensation; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving first part.
- Adjust collets, three-jaw chucks, and/or vise jaws, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, stops, and stock pushers or pullers during setup.
- Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run parts, and sample workpieces; adhere to WIKA standards.
- Maintain specifications by observing CNC tools, sharpening and replacing worn tools; follow quality assurance procedures.
- Ensure safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
- Maintain equipment through preventive maintenance, following manufacturer's instructions, and troubleshooting malfunctions.
- Document and communicate actions, irregularities, and ongoing needs across shifts.
- Complete production and quality logs.
- Contribute to organizational goals by taking ownership of tasks and exploring value-added opportunities.
- Assist mechanics and machinists in repair work.
- Perform ancillary duties as required.
Candidate Profile
- 2-4 years of experience and/or training, or equivalent education and experience.
- HSD or GED required.
- Manual dexterity for operating machinery and computers.
- Ability to work overtime, including weekends.
- Basic skills in reading blueprints and math.
- Knowledge of machine tool repair and maintenance preferred.
- Fundamental understanding of metal cutting and machining practices.
