Job summary

Amentum is hiring a Machinist to support the Prototyping Integration Facility at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD. You will set up and operate CNC machines, fabricate mechanisms, and verify tolerances using precision measuring tools.

The role requires a four-year apprenticeship or journeyman status and the ability to obtain a Secret clearance. Compensation is under SCA with Health and Welfare benefits; duties include independent work in a prototype shop and collaboration with the C5ISR Center.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Four-year apprenticeship and two years journeyman OR eight years journeyman experience.
• Experience with CNC machining equipment.
• Knowledge of CAM operation.
• Ability to obtain an Active Secret US Government Clearance.
• US citizenship required to maintain Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Support the C5ISR Center in the Fabrication and Integration Branch.
• Set up and operate a full range of machine tools in a prototype development shop.
• Work from engineering design drawings and technical specifications.
• Maintain dimensional accuracy to specified tolerances using measuring instruments.
• Fabricate and construct mechanisms, models and instruments to meet engineering requirements.
• Determine necessary tools, dies and fixtures and set up CNC machines (Machining Center, Lathe, Milling).
• Work independently with minimal supervision.
