Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Machinist to join the Prototyping Integration Facility (PIF) at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD, supporting C5ISR center initiatives for the Army and other services. The role involves fabricating, assembling, and testing components from engineering drawings in a busy prototype shop, using CNC machines and precision measuring tools.

Qualifications

Must have a High School Diploma.
Must have completed a four-year apprenticeship program and have two years as a Journeyman Machinist or a minimum of eight years as a Journeyman Machinist.
Experience with machining equipment including Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines.
Knowledge of Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) operation is required.
Must have the ability to obtain an Active Secret US Government Clearance; US citizenship required to maintain Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

Support the C5ISR Center in the Fabrication and Integration Branch.
Set up and operate a full range of machine tools in a prototype development shop.
Work from engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Maintain dimensional accuracy to specified tolerances using precision measuring instruments.
Fabricate and construct mechanisms, models and instruments that meet engineering requirements.
Determine necessity for special tools, dies and fixtures and set up and operate CNC machines (Machining Center, Lathe and Milling Machine).
Work independently with minimal supervision.
