Job summary

CACI is seeking a Junior Machinist to fabricate prototype naval component models using 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC machines at NSWCCD Model Shop in Bethesda, MD. The role requires DoD Secret clearance eligibility and hands-on experience with milling/lathe operations, CAD/CAM drawings, and GD&T interpretation.

You will collaborate with design engineers, perform setup and programming, and handle hand-finishing. The position emphasizes safe operations, quality control, and adherence to regulatory

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1–5 years of CNC milling/lathe setup, programming, editing and operation experience.
• Experience machining aluminum, stainless steel and other materials.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings/blueprints.
• Must obtain and maintain DoD Secret Clearance.
• Fluent English communication.
• Basic MS Windows skills.
• Ability to perform basic math.
• Ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.

Responsibilities

• Machine model components using CNC and manual mills and lathes.
• Program, set up, and operate 3-, 4-, or 5-axis CNC machines.
• Hand-finish parts using contouring and polishing.
• Collaborate with design engineers; advise on machining approaches as SME.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings (CAD/CAM) and tolerancing (GD&T).
