Job summary

Watteredge in Avon Lake, OH is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to set up and operate CNC mills and lathes to produce precision components.

The successful candidate will read blueprints, interpret tolerances, and work with 4th- and 5th-axis machining, while collaborating with engineering and quality teams to ensure parts meet exact specifications and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Previous CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret tolerances and specifications.
• Experience with CNC mills and lathes and G-code/M-code.
• Familiarity with speeds, feeds and precision measurement tools.
• Safely lifting up to 50 pounds and maintaining clean work area.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes to manufacture precision components.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and production documentation.
• Work with X, Y, and Z axes, including 4th and 5th axis machining.
• Change fixtures, tooling, inserts, and tooling offsets to ensure accurate setups.
• Understand and make necessary edits to G & M Codes, speeds, and feeds.
• Inspect finished parts using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring equipment.
• Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and setup issues.
• Maintain part tolerances and ensure finished components meet quality specifications.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve technical issues and improve processes.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

What We're Looking For

• Experience setting up and operating CNC mills and lathes.
• Knowledge of X, Y, Z, 4th, and 5th axis machining.
• Ability to read blueprints and understand machining tolerances and specifications.
• Working knowledge of G & M Codes, tooling, speeds, and feeds.
• Experience using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring tools.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and problemsolving skills.
• Ability to safely lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
