Job summary

Watteredge LLC is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer who thrives on solving problems, improving processes, and leading projects on the production floor and in the office.

You will design and improve processes, lead launches, and develop automation while driving Lean initiatives to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost on the Avon Lake, OH site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent manufacturing experience.
• 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and production operations.
• Experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• ERP experience including BOMs and routings (Syteline or SAP preferred).
• Experience leading process improvements and continuous improvement projects.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills.
• Comfortable working on the production floor and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and improve manufacturing processes that increase productivity, quality, and safety.
• Lead new product launches from prototype through full production.
• Design tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing work instructions.
• Lead capital equipment projects from concept through installation and startup.
• Develop automated and semi-automated manufacturing solutions.
• Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives including Kaizen events, 5S, waste reduction, and process optimization.
• Analyze production data to improve cycle times, reduce scrap, and increase efficiency.
• Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Create ERP routings, BOMs, work instructions, and manufacturing documentation.
• Provide technical support for customer quotations, manufacturing feasibility, and project proposals.
• Partner with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, and Sales to improve plant performance.
• Support ISO 9001:2015 quality initiatives and OSHA safety programs.

What You'll Do

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering preferred, or equivalent manufacturing experience.
• 35 years of manufacturing engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and production operations.
• Experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• ERP experience, including Bills of Material (BOMs) and routings (Syteline or SAP preferred).
• Experience leading process improvements and continuous improvement projects.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills.
• Comfortable working on the production floor and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with any of the following is highly desirable:

• Copper or nonferrous metals manufacturing
• Engineertoorder or custom manufacturing
• CNC machining
• Waterjet or laser cutting
• Welding, brazing, or press welding
• Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma
• Capital equipment installation and commissioning
• Automation and process improvement
• CMMS and maintenance reliability programs
