Job summary

True North Consultants, Inc. is seeking an experienced CNC Field Service Engineer to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain CNC machine tools at customer sites nationwide. The role emphasizes electrical and mechanical diagnostics and delivering exceptional customer service.

Extensive travel (100%), typically weekdays with overnights, and the ability to work independently in the field while coordinating with customers, distributors, and internal teams is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of CNC machine tool maintenance experience.
• 5+ years of remote technical support within the machine tool industry.
• Experience with CNC controls, including FANUC.
• Strong PLC programming and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Solid electrical and mechanical knowledge; diagnostic skills.
• Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and customer-service skills.

Responsibilities

• Install new CNC machine tool systems at customer sites, including options and accessories.
• Perform machine leveling, geometry checks, and final adjustments for peak performance.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and application issues.
• Identify root causes and advise corrective actions including repairs or replacements.
• Provide on-site and remote technical support via phone, email, and other channels.
• Support customers, distributors, and internal teams with technical guidance and problem resolution.
• Provide customer training and assist with project coordination as needed.
• Support at trade shows and company events when required.
• Maintain detailed service documentation and reporting.
• Travel extensively (100%) including overnights and weekends.
