Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses in delivering patient care and maintaining unit environments. Responsibilities include basic patient care, hygiene, nutrition support, elimination and skin care, mobility assistance, vital signs, and efficient communication with nursing staff.

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days (AHA)
• HS Diploma or GED required
• CNA experience or coursework within past 24 months
• Completion of Carle's HCT In Training Program
• Relevant medical military training is acceptable
• At least one nursing clinical semester experience

Responsibilities

• Performs patient care activities delegated by the nurse
• Provides hygiene needs (AM/PM care, oral/denture care, bathing, etc.)
• Assists with nutrition and tube feeding and records intake
• Assists with elimination needs and urinary catheter care as trained
• Provides skin care, turning and positioning to prevent breakdown
• Administers comfort measures and ensures patient safety
• Assists with activity needs (ambulation, transfers, etc.)
• Takes vitals and other measurements as directed
• Assists with admission, transfer, and discharge processes
• Prepares care equipment and stores patient belongings
• Maintains clean, safe patient environment and prompts nursing staff when needed
• Responds promptly to alarms and call lights
• Documents care and communicates with the nurse on duty
