Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Health Care Technician to assist licensed nurses with personal care and hygiene for a patient group. Under RN supervision, you will support communication across departments and help with daily tasks to ensure smooth unit function.

The role involves data collection, vital sign monitoring, and assisting with activities of daily living, transport, and emotional support. BLS certification and CNA-related experience are required.

Qualifications

• BLS certification within 30 days (AHA).
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience as CNA or nursing clinical exposure preferred; completion of Carle HCT In Training Program.

Responsibilities

• Assist with unit supplies and chart preparation to support patient care.
• Collect data on assigned patients and document accurately.
• Demonstrate competency in vitals, glucose monitoring, and intake/output.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living.
• Prepare patients for transportation or transport them as needed.
• Perform delegated tasks such as vitals, hygiene, ambulation, and specimen collection.
• Conduct hourly rounds and communicate notable findings to RN.
• Provide emotional support to patients and families.
• Document care delivery per unit standards and pass audits.
• Assist with bone marrow aspirations as needed with physicians.
