Job summary

ECU Health is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant II to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse at ECU Health Medical Center in North Carolina. The role includes supporting unit operations, participating in quality improvement activities, and ensuring patient safety and care standards are met.

This position requires active NAI and NAII listings, HeartSaver certification, and completion of a de-escalation program within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Active NAI listing with NC Department of Health & Human Services is required.
• Active NAII listing with North Carolina Board of Nursing is required.
• Current American Heart Association HeartSaver or higher certification is required.
• De-escalation training (Non-violent Crisis Intervention or other de-escalation program) must be completed within 90 days of hire and maintained during employment.

Responsibilities

• Participates in quality Improvement (QI) activities, problem solving and data collection; applies safe practices, infection control and fire/disaster regulations; contributes to cost savings.
• Participates in staff development and education; attends mandatory trainings; assists in orientation of new staff and students as delegated by the supervising RN.
• Follows hospital policies and ensures quality patient care; maintains licensure requirements; adheres to NC nursing regulations.
• Builds interpersonal relations and communication; respects others; provides constructive feedback; works in a team and seeks help when needed.
• Participates in unit and hospital goal setting and supports cost-effective use of equipment and supplies.
• Under supervision of the licensed nurse, assists in direct patient care and completes delegated tasks per NC DHHS and NC Board of Nursing requirements.
• With appropriate training, may perform other duties such as EKGs, Phlebotomy, venipuncture, and assisting in admission, transport, and discharge.
