Job summary

Scientific Games seeks a Systems Engineer to join the Technical Operations team supporting lottery solutions. The role focuses on Linux Ubuntu, AWS, and databases, with on-call responsibilities and ongoing improvements for deployments and upgrades.

You will triage incidents, monitor capacity, address security concerns, and collaborate with Infrastructure, Development, and Testing teams to keep platforms reliable and performant.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years in a system administration role in a high‑demand, highly available environment.
  • Extensive background with Linux Ubuntu servers and command line, scripting.
  • Strong background supporting AWS or similar cloud environments.
  • Containerization with Docker or Podman; Kubernetes knowledge desirable.
  • Experience with SQL Server or PostgreSQL engines, replication and tuning.
  • Automation scripting using PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
  • Strong problem‑solving, and knowledge of SFTP, SSH, SMTP, DNS, HTTP/S.

Responsibilities

  • Support new customer implementations and maintain existing solutions.
  • Triage, troubleshoot, and resolve issues with system availability, latency, or performance.
  • Ensure system capacity is monitored and planned for.
  • Address system security concerns.
  • Manage incidents within SLAs and track objectives.
  • Set up and maintain system monitoring and knowledge base articles.
  • Participate in a 24x7x365 on‑call rotation.
