Job summary

Scientific Games is seeking a Software Engineer to join the lottery division engineering team. This role focuses on design, coding, testing, and debugging with a strong emphasis on C on Linux and transaction processing systems.

Responsibilities include collaborating on technical designs, gathering requirements, conducting code reviews, and supporting production lottery systems. Occasional travel up to 5% is required as projects dictate.

Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • 3–7 years of programming experience.
  • Procedural application development in C on Linux.
  • Understanding of software development principles, debugging, and SQL Server databases.
  • Proficiency in shared memory, memory mapping, data structures, and binary data handling.
  • Shell scripting (BASH) and Unix tools (awk, sed, tail, head, grep).
  • Experience with version control systems such as TFS and Git.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to learn new technologies rapidly.

Responsibilities

  • Design, code, test, and debug source code and scripts.
  • Participate in solution discussions and contribute to technical designs.
  • Engage in requirements gathering for development projects.
  • Conduct code reviews and follow best development practices.
  • Support production lottery systems when issues arise.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues collaboratively with team members.
  • Estimate effort for changes and new features.
  • Assist with state-specific background checks as required.
  • Travel up to 5% of the time.
