Job summary

The University of Utah is seeking a System Administrator II to install, configure, and maintain computer software systems and peripheral equipment. You will secure systems, manage users, and coordinate updates across software, hardware, and OS layers, while contributing to documentation and automation efforts.

Responsibilities include handling daily requests and incidents, monitoring alerts across UC platforms, and supporting service desk with escalation where needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) plus 4 years of related work experience, or Master’s degree (or equivalent) plus 2 years.
• Experience administering email/messaging systems and related platforms.
• Knowledge of Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily service requests and incident queues for IT systems.
• Monitor alerts and troubleshoot issues across unified communications platforms.
• Collaborate with engineers on cross‑functional tasks and projects.
• Support deployment and maintenance of UC projects and services.
• Ensure email and messaging services remain fully functional and optimized.
• Create and maintain technical runbooks, backups, and support processes.
• Develop automation and scripting to improve efficiency and incident response.
