Job summary

University Information Technology (UIT) at the University of Utah is seeking a Cloud Engineer to support Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace services, providing technical guidance for planning and implementing new solutions while ensuring stability of existing platforms.

You will work with IT and business partners to design and deliver solutions that meet institutional needs, focusing on Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Box and Linux, with integrations into university environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent with related work experience.
  • Microsoft Exchange and/or Microsoft 365 certifications preferred.
  • Hands-on experience administering Google Workspace.
  • Cloud application integration experience.
  • Scripting skills (PowerShell, Python, or similar).
  • Working understanding of Windows, Mac and Linux OSes.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily service requests and incident ticket queues.
  • Monitor system alerts and troubleshoot issues across Unified Communications and collaboration platforms.
  • Collaborate with other engineers on complex tasks and cross-functional projects.
  • Contribute to the design, deployment, and support of Unified Communications projects as assigned.
  • Ensure email and messaging services are fully functional and optimized.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, run-books, and support processes.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation (e.g., PowerShell scripting).

Job Summary

Systems Administrator II

Install, configure, and maintain computer software systems andassociated peripheral equipment. Maintain operating efficiency andstability, ensure the security and integrity of all systems anddata, and respond to outages and other issues. Perform applicationadministration activities such as creating, modifying, and deletingusers, optimizing remote access, and security access for messagingsystems, databases, and web applications. Coordinate withdepartment leadership to plan, design, and schedule the release ofall software, hardware, and operating system updates. Develop andenhance processes and technical documentation, create back-upprocedures, test plans, and reports. Prioritize and respond torequests for service and may provide escalation support tohelp/service desk staff.

Minimum Qualifications

EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher educationcan be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience(Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related workexperience).

Systems Administrator, II: Requires a bachelor's(or equivalency) + 4 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience.

Preferences
