Job summary

Northrop Grumman's Space Sector in Redondo Beach, CA seeks a Cloud Software Engineer (Level 3 or 4) to join the Western Region Software Engineering Directorate. This onsite role designs, builds, and maintains cloud software for space ground systems and operations.

You will write code in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, or C++, develop RESTful APIs, apply CI/CD and Git workflows, mentor teammates, and present results to leaders and customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 5+ years of relevant software engineering experience or Master's degree in a STEM discipline with 3+years of stated experience or Ph.D. in a STEM discipline with 1+years of stated experience.
• Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret clearance within a reasonable period of time.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience with designing and developing applications using AWS cloud services (Lambda, API Gateway, EC2, S3, IAM).
• Proficiency in Python.
• Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining RESTful APIs and event-driven systems.
• Experience designing SW architecture for distributed/cloud-native systems.
• Competence with version control (Git), code review processes, and CI/CD tools.
• Demonstrated experience with model-based software design and documentation (using CAMEO, SysML, UML, or similar tools).

Responsibilities

• Designing, architecting, and implementing advanced cloud software to support space ground software and operations, including detailed software modeling and design documentation.
• Writing and maintaining software in modern programming languages such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, or C++.
• Developing, deploying, and maintaining RESTful APIs to support mission and business functionality.
• Applying CI/CD practices, version control (Git), and automated testing to ensure high-quality, reliable software delivery.
• Applying strong problem-solving skills to quickly understand and address complex technical concepts.
• Preparing charts, presenting data, and providing recommendations to internal teams, program leadership, and external customers, demonstrating excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Managing tasking and mentoring team members across multiple program schedules with tight deadlines.
