Job summary

Abbott is seeking a Software Cybersecurity Engineer for our Infectious Diseases team in San Diego, on site daily. You’ll secure cloud systems, software, and medical devices, perform vulnerability testing, and collaborate with IT and development teams to fix issues before release.

Required are a strong background in cybersecurity, cloud security, and AI‑assisted tooling, plus experience with Windows/Linux and web apps. Abbott offers robust health, retirement, and education benefits.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree and 7 years of relevant cybersecurity experience.
• Bachelor's degree or higher preferred, with hands‑on security engineering experience.
• Certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CISM, CCSP or CEH are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and validate cybersecurity controls for cloud‑based apps and medical devices.
• Lead complex cybersecurity initiatives and translate findings into actionable risk insights.
• Develop AI‑assisted security tooling and automations to improve reviews and remediation.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external testers to identify vulnerabilities and mitigations.
