Job summary

Abbott is seeking a Cybersecurity Specialist to join a team protecting product software across diverse environments. This role can be remote within the U.S. and focuses on identifying risks, implementing mitigations, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

The candidate will work with development teams to monitor security, assess third‑party risks, and support audits while advancing threat management and incident response capabilities within Abbott’s product portfolio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years in cybersecurity or information security.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and standards such as NIST, ISO 27001, IEC 62304, PERA.
• Understanding of SSDLC, vulnerability management, threat modeling, and best practices.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with strong organizational and time‑management skills.
• Excellent documentation, communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement cybersecurity deliverables for product software releases and provide technical security responses to customer inquiries.
• Support protection of manufacturing assets through security controls, assessments, risk evaluations and mitigations.
• Evaluate cybersecurity posture of third‑party vendors and suppliers.
• Provide project updates, review policies, and coordinate cybersecurity initiatives.
• Collaborate with development operations to implement monitoring and security solutions across stand‑alone and embedded software.
• Support security across cloud environments (public, private, hybrid).
• Ensure applications comply with privacy, security, and resilience frameworks.
• Assist with security configuration reviews and risk‑reduction solutions.
• Participate in incident breach and response activities for products and supporting apps.
• Advance cyber threat and vulnerability management programs for ongoing monitoring.
• Coordinate with cross‑functional teams to meet security project plans.
• Provide technical training on risk prevention strategies.
• Develop security content for monthly site security metrics reporting.
