Job summary

Abbott Laboratories is seeking a Cybersecurity Manager to act as a strategic advisor to business and technology leadership. You will align enterprise cybersecurity with business objectives, ensuring privacy, security, and regulatory compliance across products and initiatives.

You will guide cross-functional teams, implement risk-based programs, and lead discussions on secure development, incident response, and governance within Abbott's Rapid and Molecular Diagnostics Division.

Qualifications

  • 10-12 years of experience with mastery in two security domains.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of General Computer Controls: information security, operations, vendor management, BC, networks, DB, software, hardware, and app development controls.
  • Familiarity with major frameworks and standards (NIST, ISO 27001/2, SOC2, HITRUST, FedRAMP).
  • CISM certification and strong regulatory compliance knowledge (NIST, ISO, SOX, GDPR, HIPAA, FDA).
  • Understanding of OWASP, CVSS, and MITRE ATT&CK.

  • Develop strategies, policies, and standards to protect information and assets.
  • Serve as cybersecurity SME in meetings to guide secure practices and decisions.

The Opportunity

This position is in-person located in Lake Forest, IL, Willis Tower, IL or St. Paul, MN locations in Rapid and Molecular Diagnostics Division (RMDx). Rapid and Molecular Diagnostics is transforming care by providing timely, accurate information to better manage health outcomes via the design and manufacture of advanced instrument systems for hospitals, reference labs, and blood banks. As security leaders within RMDx, we pride ourselves in our delivery of sophisticated information solutions that uncover insights to improve productivity and patient outcomes.

As the Cybersecurity Manager you will serve as a cybersecurity advisor and strategic partner to business and technology leadership. You will help drive alignment between business objectives and enterprise cybersecurity strategy, ensuring security, privacy, and regulatory requirements are integrated into business decisions, product development, and technology initiatives. This role will lead risk-based decision making, facilitate stakeholder engagement, and help prioritize cybersecurity investments to support innovation while protecting Abbott's assets, products, data, and patients.

What You’ll Work On
  • Guide business units, operations teams, application development teams, and third-party vendors to achieve program requirements to enable the business.
  • Support leadership in the development of strategies, policies, and standards to protect company information and technology assets.
  • Attend regular project and implementation meetings and serve as the cyber security subject matter expert to help determine and guide secure practices.
  • Keep up to date with the current and proposed cyber security changes impacting regulatory, privacy, and security industry best practice guidance.
  • Contribute to the development of a risk-based cyber security program that meets regulatory requirements and aligns with industry-leading information and cyber security practices.
  • Work with a variety of cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and policies in all jurisdictions where Abbott operates.
  • Contribute to the design of cyber security toolsets to enable more automated discovery, remediation, and alerting of network and device vulnerabilities, as a means of improving the security posture.
  • Familiarity with AI governance, data governance, and emerging technology risk management.
Education and Experience You’ll Bring
Required Qualifications
  • 10-12 years of experience is required with demonstrable mastery of at least two security domains)
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of General Computer Controls, including Information Security, Information System Operations, Vendor Management, Business Continuity, Networks, Database, System Software, Hardware, and Application Development controls.
  • Strong team player with the ability to communicate effectively within cross-functional groups and perform peer reviews of work products and documents.
  • Excellent organizational skills and critical attention to detail and deadlines with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Possess expertise in valuing and implementing industry standards such as the NIST cybersecurity framework, ISO 27001/2, SOC2, HITRUST and FedRAMP information Security standard.
  • Possess CISM Certification (or similar) and be intimately familiar with national and international regulatory compliances and frameworks such as NIST, ISO, SOX, GDPR, HIPPA, and FDA
  • Understanding of OWASP, CVSS, the MITRE ATT&CK framework.
  • Comfort developing and leading meetings and interfacing with members of organizational leadership
  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills for interaction with all levels of management and staff, including the ability to communicate regulatory requirements, security objectives, policies, and standards in business terms.
  • Focused self-manager and well-organized.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Medical device and manufacturing cybersecurity experience.
  • Ability to balance cybersecurity requirements with business objectives and product delivery timelines.
  • Audit and Risk Management experience.
  • Displays an analytical and problem-solving solutions-first mindset.
  • Works calmly under pressure and with tight deadlines.
  • Fosters collaboration and teamwork, able to shift contribution to task demand
  • Demonstrates effective decision-making skills which maximize benefits to all stakeholders.

The base pay for this position is $113,300.00 – $226,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
