FinOps Weekly is seeking a Cloud FinOps Engineer to drive Azure cost management with a strong emphasis on forecasting, governance, and value delivery. You will bridge finance, operations, and engineering to improve accountability, optimize cloud spend, and implement reporting frameworks.

The role requires deep FinOps knowledge, hands-on experience with Azure, and a proactive approach to cost optimization, budgeting, and on-call responsibilities across a remote-friendly US team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of experience in cloud infrastructure and IT operations.
  • 3 years in Azure FinOps, cost optimization, and reporting.
  • FinOps Certified Practitioner or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a FinOps strategy for Azure cloud operations.

This role connects finance, operations, and engineering to improve cost accountability, strengthen governance, and ensure cloud resources deliver strong business value.The work centers on forecasting, monitoring, optimization, and reporting for cloud expenses, along with resolving cost-related discrepancies. It also involves collaboration with technical teams and cloud providers, plus rotating on-call support. Remote work is available only in Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, South Dakota, Texas, South Carolina, Wisconsin, North Carolina, and Michigan; candidates outside these states must relocate to Montana or one of the approved states to be eligible.Campaigns & Elections## Key Responsibilities – Develop and execute a FinOps strategy for Azure cloud operations. – Forecast cloud service costs using usage patterns and organizational goals. – Monitor cloud spending to find opportunities for savings and optimization. – Partner with technical teams to improve resource efficiency and manage costs. – Build and maintain reporting on cloud spend, usage, and optimization opportunities. – Support relationships with cloud service providers, including pricing and terms discussions. – Research current cloud financial management practices and industry trends. – Handle administrative work such as purchase orders and budget-related information. – Provide rotating on-call support and respond to urgent needs as required. – Complete additional duties as assigned.## Required Skills – Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. – 5 years of experience in cloud infrastructure, automation frameworks, and/or best practices. – 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure and infrastructure operations. – 3 years of experience in Azure cloud financial management, cost optimization, billing models, and reporting tools. – FinOps Certified Practitioner certification, or the ability to earn it within 6 months of hire. – Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. – Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize. – Ability to analyze and manage multiple deadlines. – Sound judgment, patience, tact, discretion, sensitivity, and confidentiality. – Ability to work effectively in a busy, stressful environment. – Ability to learn new computer applications and office equipment.## Preferred Skills – Experience in an IT department within a healthcare organization.## Cloud Platforms & Technologies – Cloud Providers: Azure – Automation / Infrastructure: automation frameworks – Reporting & BI: reporting tools## FinOps Responsibilities – Azure FinOps strategy development – Cloud spend forecasting and trend analysis – Cost optimization and resource utilization improvement – Cloud spend reporting and budget support – Cloud provider pricing and terms support – Cloud expense discrepancy review and resolution## Why You Might Be Interested This role offers a focused FinOps opportunity centered on Azure cost management, forecasting, reporting, and optimization.
