Reporting to the CTO, you will partner with Engineering, Product, Finance, and Operations to improve cost accountability, strengthen governance, and help teams scale efficiently.The role combines financial analysis, cloud architecture awareness, operational discipline, and cross-functional leadership. Its purpose is to turn cloud spend into usable insight, support better technical and financial decisions, and improve predictability across planning and reporting.This is a full-time remote position. Hiring is limited to select U.S. states and the United Kingdom.## Key Responsibilities– Lead cloud financial management across AWS and other cloud platforms. – Build forecasting models for cloud infrastructure spend and support annual planning and monthly budget reviews. – Track cloud usage trends and identify opportunities to improve predictability and reduce waste. – Define cost allocation methods that provide visibility by product, team, and business unit. – Establish budgets, alerts, policies, and governance controls to improve financial accountability. – Drive cloud optimization practices including rightsizing, commitment management, storage optimization, and resource lifecycle management. – Serve as the primary FinOps partner for Engineering while working closely with Finance, Product, and executive stakeholders. – Translate technical cloud consumption into business-friendly financial analysis and recommendations. – Develop dashboards and KPIs covering spend, utilization, efficiency, unit economics, workload performance, and infrastructure trends. – Manage cloud vendor relationships and support contract and purchasing decisions. – Ensure accurate cloud billing, chargebacks, and cost reporting. – Build scalable FinOps processes, documentation, automation, and governance frameworks. – Promote cloud cost ownership and FinOps best practices across the organization. – Stay current on FinOps Foundation guidance and emerging optimization methods.## Required Skills– 5+ years of experience in FinOps, Cloud Financial Management, FP&A supporting Engineering, Cloud Infrastructure, or a related technical finance role. – Experience managing cloud costs in AWS. – Strong understanding of cloud architecture, infrastructure services, and cloud cost drivers. – Experience with cloud cost management platforms such as CloudHealth, Apptio Cloudability, Finout, ProsperOps, AWS Cost Explorer, or similar tools. – Advanced Excel skills, plus experience with SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or similar reporting tools. – Experience partnering directly with engineering teams on cloud cost optimization. – Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial reporting. – Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical topics to finance stakeholders and financial topics to technical teams. – Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.## Preferred Skills– FinOps Certified Practitioner or FinOps Certified Professional certification. – Experience with Azure and GCP. – Experience with Kubernetes, containerized workloads, or large-scale SaaS platforms. – Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation. – Experience in high-growth SaaS, aerospace, defense, or government contracting environments. – Experience with Datadog, Grafana, Snowflake, or cloud observability platforms. – Experience building automated cloud governance and cost optimization workflows.## Cloud Platforms & Technologies– \*\*Cloud Providers:\*\* AWS, Azure, GCP – \*\*FinOps Platforms:\*\* CloudHealth, Apptio Cloudability, Finout, ProsperOps, AWS Cost Explorer – \*\*Infrastructure as Code:\*\* Terraform, CloudFormation – \*\*Containers & Kubernetes:\*\* Kubernetes, containerized workloads – \*\*Monitoring:\*\* Datadog, Grafana, cloud observability platforms – \*\*Data & Analytics:\*\* SQL, Snowflake – \*\*Reporting & BI:\*\* Advanced Excel, Power BI, Tableau## FinOps Responsibilities– Build cloud spend forecasting and improve cost predictability. – Establish allocation models for products, teams, and business units. – Implement budgets, alerts, policies, and governance controls. – Drive rightsizing, commitment management, storage optimization, and resource lifecycle management. – Monitor unit economics, cloud cost per customer, workload efficiency, utilization, and infrastructure trends. – Support billing accuracy, chargebacks, and reporting. – Contribute to purchasing strategy, including Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, and enterprise agreements. – Create dashboards, reporting, automation, and governance frameworks that improve cloud cost visibility. – Promote FinOps practices and cloud cost ownership across the business.## Why You Might Be InterestedThis role offers end-to-end ownership of cloud financial management across AWS and other cloud platforms.
