Job summary

ServiceNow in Kirkland, WA, is seeking a senior software engineer for Platform Infrastructure Automation. The role focuses on building scalable infrastructure automation software across ServiceNow’s global cloud platform, with emphasis on reliability, AI-assisted tooling, and CI/CD excellence.

You will collaborate with product managers, architects, and engineers to define requirements, lead end-to-end development, and drive best practices.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development experience in Java or a comparable OO language with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6+ years with a Master’s; or 3+ years with a PhD.
• Experience integrating AI into software development workflows, engineering processes, or platform automation.
• Experience developing scalable, resilient systems and leveraging AI/ML insights to enhance products or operations.
• Ability to lead projects with significant technical complexity and risk across distributed teams.
• Strong foundation in distributed systems and designing large-scale cloud platforms.
• Experience building scalable products, frameworks, and infrastructure automation solutions.
• Excellent software engineering skills with Java, JavaScript, Go, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Define requirements with product managers and engineers and deliver end-to-end cloud platform solutions.
• Lead design, development, testing, and deployment of large-scale infrastructure automation software.
• Write high-quality, scalable, reusable code and enforce engineering best practices.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and automate workflows.
• Drive test automation strategies: unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Improve platform reliability with mocks, fault injection, and automated validation.
• Design and implement new platform capabilities while modernizing existing systems.
• Build and operate cloud solutions that scale across data centers and servers.
• Establish observability and performance practices for reliability and rapid incident resolution.
• Mentor engineers and promote technical excellence across teams.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks, and software quality metrics.
