Responsibilities

Primary:

  • Perform all duties of the Patient Care Specialist as detailed in the specific job description.
  • Maintain friendly, professional relationships with colleagues, building confidence and credibility.
  • Provide clinical and administrative support, adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Align with the company's core values of teamwork, communication, empowerment, quality of care, and friendliness.
  • Conduct activities consistent with department expectations and compliant with federal and state regulations, including HIPAA.
  • Prepare exam and treatment rooms for patient intake.
  • Triaging patients by checking vitals, performing blood draws, injections, etc.
  • Observe and chart patient conditions, reporting changes and adverse reactions, and taking necessary actions.
  • Assist with lab testing, phlebotomy, and minor procedures.
  • Maintain supplies and equipment for treatment areas.
  • Support patients utilizing Virtual Medicine Providers.
  • Ensure accurate, timely completion of patient charts and forwarding as appropriate.
  • Arrange referrals and obtain pre-authorizations as directed.
  • Maintain positive relations with clients and colleagues, fostering a respectful and professional work environment.
  • Perform federal and non-federal DOT, BAT, and drug screening exams.
  • Meet physical, sensory, cognitive, and environmental requirements of the position.
  • Comply with operational standards and promote confidentiality and respect within the team.
  • Complete mandatory compliance training.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the office and support a professional environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Secondary:

  • Assist with clerical tasks such as patient check-in, demographic, insurance, and financial data collection, with professionalism and care.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and communicate payment policies.
  • Answer phones, take messages, and return calls professionally.
Essential Functions Specific to Supporting Telehealth
  • Prepare patient charts through virtual communication methods.
  • Assist with follow-ups including pharmacy requests, paperwork, scheduling, and clinical calls.
Additional Requirements and Responsibilities

Level 1: High School Diploma or equivalent, current CPR license, and at least 1 year of experience as a certified MA, EMT, or Paramedic, preferably in urgent care.

Level 2: Certified MA, EMT, or Paramedic with current CPR license, with either 4 years’ relevant experience and 2 in the role or 6 years’ relevant experience.

Level 3 & 4: Similar requirements with increased experience, as detailed in the original description.

Additional duties include scheduling, ordering, training, and other tasks assigned by Clinic or Regional Director. CPR certification must be active within 7 days of hire.

Experience Requirements and Preferences

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Minimum 1 year as MA, EMT, or Paramedic preferred in a clinical setting, especially urgent care.

Licenses/Certifications: Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred; license must be active and verifiable. TB and IV Certification required within 60 days of employment if applicable.
