Job summary

UNC Health Care seeks a Clinical Support Tech II (Nursing Assistant II + clerical) for the Surgical Trauma Critical Care Unit in Chapel Hill. The role combines direct patient care with clerical duties in a fast-paced Level 1 trauma unit.

36 hours per week with rotating 12-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays. Requires NC Nursing Assistant I & II licensure, BLS, and 1 year of clerical/customer service plus 3 months of nursing assistant experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must hold Nursing Assistant I and II licensure per North Carolina DHHS.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Requires one year of clerical or customer service experience and three months of nursing assistant experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and healthcare providers with examinations and procedures, procure equipment and supplies.
• Review patient care documentation and report significant changes to the nurse or physician.
• Perform clerical tasks including workload organization, greeting visitors, answering calls, transcribing orders, and maintaining medical records.
• Provide administrative and clerical support including audits and data entry.
• Provide clinical support such as cleaning, equipment maintenance, and transporting patients, supplies, and specimens.
• Assist with patient care activities per care plan, including vital signs, basic nursing tasks, and patient education materials.
