Job summary

WestCare Foundation is seeking a Counselor to deliver clinical substance abuse treatment. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, developing service plans, and leading daily groups on therapeutic communities and relapse prevention in a secure setting.

The role requires CADC or licensed professional credentials, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work within confidential guidelines. Travel and cross-training are possible as part of staff development.

Qualifications

• Must hold clinical certification (CADC from IAODAPCA) or a licensed professional (LPC/LCPC, psychologist, social worker) or physician.
• Masters or bachelor's degree preferred; high school diploma required.
• Experience in counseling, assessment, and treatment planning.
• Knowledge of offender populations and therapeutic community concepts.
• Bilingual is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complete assessment of each client with required assessment tools.
• Initiate and sustain motivation to participate in treatment using engagement techniques.
• Develop a comprehensive service plan with input from the client.
• Provide daily treatment and curriculum-based groups on core treatment concepts.
• Assist clients in developing self-help groups (AA/NA) and recovery supports.
• Maintain client treatment files and ensure confidentiality and compliance with laws.
• Obtain release of confidential information and document for quality assurance.
• Submit client data weekly to WestCare database and attend required trainings.
