Job summary

Visionworks is seeking a Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to support patients through pre-exam steps and both onsite and remote eye examinations. The role includes documenting medical history, coordinating scheduling, and transferring care to retail staff with clear doctor recommendations.

The position requires one year of related experience in optical or healthcare settings, HIPAA awareness, and strong customer service skills.

Qualifications

• One year of related experience in optical or healthcare settings.
• Medical office/business professionalism required.
• Training provided upon hire.
• HS diploma, GED or equivalent related job experience.

Responsibilities

• Complete patient registration and submit information into EMR.
• Assist onsite doctor with eye examinations and document results in EMR.
• For remote appointments, guide patients through the remote eye exam process and document results.
• Transition patients to a retail associate with doctor recommendations.
• Explain MVC plan benefits to patients and preauthorize insurance as needed.
• Schedule appointments and manage exam book in line with company guidelines.
• Maintain patient flow and answer clinical questions in person or by phone.
• Instruct on contact lens insertion, care and handling; place orders as needed.
• Maintain clean environment and participate in training and certifications.
