Responsibilities

• Directing unit workflow to prevent bottlenecks and long wait times.
• Coordinate bed management with ER and ICU for rapid patient placement.
• Allocate resources and staff based on patient acuity.
• Lead discharge planning with social workers for safe, timely exits.
• Manage 24/7 staff scheduling including call-outs and holidays.
• Mediate conflicts between medical staff or with families.
• Identify training gaps and organize in-service education sessions.
• Set annual goals and conduct formal performance reviews for nurses and techs.
