Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Jackson, MS is seeking a Lead Medical Support Assistant (LMSA) to coordinate Advanced MSA assignments and workflow in an interdisciplinary unit.

The LMSA supervises workload, assigns tasks, and ensures staffing coverage, while evaluating training needs of MSAs to support across settings. The role includes guiding staff on policy changes, organizing work and schedules, and resolving day-to-day conflicts.

Qualifications

• Education recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Foreign education requires a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency.

Responsibilities

• Assists unit with complex procedures and clinic flow to ensure access to care across clinics and resources.
• Ensures accurate and timely scheduling of appointments.
• Provides guidance on policies and procedures; coordinates staff schedules and acts as liaison among Advanced MSA staff, patients, and other staff.
• Monitors work of MSA staff and develops action plans to improve efficiency in clinic operations.
