Mercy Health is seeking a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) – Clinical Nursing Student for West Hospital. The role provides direct patient care under RN guidance, offering clinical experience through job shadowing and hands-on care within scope of practice.

Qualificações

• HS/GED (required).
• Currently enrolled in a nursing program and has completed one clinical nursing course and one clinical rotation (required).
• BLS (preferred).
• Recent experience in acute care and/or long term care facility (preferred).
• Ability to clearly communicate to other members of the healthcare team.
• Ability to understand and follow directions of healthcare team.
• Knowledge of patient and healthcare safety standards and regulations (i.e. falls, skin breakdown, suicide prevention, environment of care).

Responsabilidades

• Works to develop critical thinking skills through collaboration with the RN to ensure quality patient care delivery
• Seeks out educational opportunities related to nursing practice and critical thinking
• Provides basic patient care including care and comfort, vital signs, personal care and hygiene, mobility.
• Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes or concerns to nurse
• Provides high level customer service to patients, family, visitors and staff
• Documents patient care accurately and timely
• Participates in hand-off/report of pertinent information regarding patient and departmental needs
• Performs delegated tasks once competency is validated
• Participates in patient data collection and documentation (vital signs, intake/output, changes in condition)
• Performs basic patient hygiene and care related to activities of daily living (ambulation, feeding, hydration, elimination)
• Uses clinical technology as applicable
• Escalates concerns through appropriate chain of command
