Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Clinical Nursing Student (LPN) for the Med Surg Unit at Springfield Regional Medical Center. You will provide direct patient care under supervision, participate in hands-on clinical experiences, and support the nursing team in delivering compassionate care.

The role emphasizes patient safety, documentation, and collaboration with Registered Nurses to develop critical thinking and clinical skills within a faith-based, patient-centered environment.

Qualifications

• HS/GED (required).
• Currently enrolled in a nursing program and has completed one clinical nursing course and one clinical rotation (required).
• BLS (preferred).
• Recent experience in acute care and/or long term care facility (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Works to develop critical thinking skills through collaboration with the RN to ensure quality patient care delivery.
• Seeks out educational opportunities related to nursing practice and critical thinking.
• Provides basic patient care including care and comfort, vital signs, hygiene and mobility.
• Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes or concerns.
• Provides high level customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff.
• Documents patient care accurately and timely.
• Participates in hand-offs and reports of pertinent information.
• Performs delegated tasks once competency is validated.
• Participates in patient data collection and documentation (vital signs, intake/output, condition changes).
• Assists with activities of daily living and mobility, feeding and hydration as needed.
