Job summary

WellSpan Health seeks a Medical Assistant to provide safe, therapeutic care under supervision, assist in direct patient care, collect specimens, perform basic tests, and support the care team in a fast-paced outpatient setting.

The role requires MA education, at least 1 year of experience, and BLS. Strong communication, EHR proficiency, and teamwork are essential, with duties spanning patient prep, vitals, education, and follow-up coordination.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associates Degree Medical Assistant preferred or Diploma Program MA preferred.
  • 1 year Medical Assistant experience required.
  • Basic Life Support upon hire required.
  • Certified Medical Assistant upon hire preferred.
  • Strong communication and SBAR skills; ability to present information to the care team.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains and documents reason for visit and patient vitals.
  • Collects specimens and ensures proper handling and logging.
  • Maintains stocked patient care areas and working equipment.
  • Prepares patients for procedures and follows Standard Precautions.
  • Schedules diagnostic and therapeutic services and follows up on results.
  • Prepares and administers vaccines and medications as qualified.
  • Processes prescription requests and refills per protocol.
  • Performs basic office procedures and patient education.
  • Gathers health information to assist clinicians in triage and care decisions.
  • Manages daily patient flow and supports care team workflows.
  • Maintains confidentiality and completes required trainings.
