Job summary

WellSpan Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide safe, therapeutic care and assist in examinations and procedures. You will collect patient data, support providers, and prepare specimens while maintaining accurate records.

The role requires completing a Medical Assistant program or equivalent experience, a High School diploma, and BLS certification. A strong focus on patient communication and teamwork is essential for success.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Medical Assisting program preferred.
• 1 year Medical Assistance experience required or completion of a Medical Assistant Program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; CMA preferred.
• Must type 30 wpm with low error rate; strong communication skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and patient privacy expectations.

Responsibilities

• Obtains and documents reason for visit, patient vitals, BMI, and related measurements.
• Assists providers with examinations, procedures, and direct patient care.
• Collects specimens following lab protocols and proper handling.
• Maintains stocked and organized patient care areas with current supplies and meds.
• Prepares patients for procedures and ensures sterility and Universal Precautions.
