Qualifications

• Minimum: High School / GED or Completion of a Medical Assistant Program
• Certification requirements mandate certification within 120 days if not already certified
• Preferred: Associate's Degree

Responsibilities

• Assists in coordination of patient care under supervision of the health care provider
• Prepares and rooms patients per standardized workflows
• Obtains vital signs and documents patient history, tobacco use, and medications
• May assist with depression screening tools and annual wellness visits
• Reviews and updates medication lists in the EHR and patient social history
• Pends/queues orders for screenings, prescriptions, refills per AHN protocols
• Performs back office testing following AHN policies
• Assists providers with exams and procedures
• May serve as a scribe with training
• Communicates results and follow-ups to patients as directed by provider
• Maintains exam rooms and inventory of medical supplies
• Cleans and sterilizes instruments and conducts lab controls
• Documents accurately in the EHR and handles clerical duties
• May float between physician office locations
