Job summary

The role involves updating patient histories in the EHR, preparing exam rooms, and aiding providers during examinations. You may serve as a scribe and will follow AHN protocols and HIPAA guidelines.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or completion of a medical assistant program.
• Must complete certification within 120 days if not already certified; testing within 30 days of hire.
• Accept Medical Assistant Certification: NHA, AAMA, AMT, NCCT, AMCA.
• CPR – American Heart Association.
• Act 34/Act 33/Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Background Clearances as required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient care under supervision of the health care provider.
• Prepare and room patients according to workflows.
• Obtain vital signs and document patient information in the EHR.
• Assist with depression screening tools and annual wellness visits.
• Review and screen medication lists in the EHR; update social history.
• Prepare exam rooms; maintain inventory and sterilize instruments.
• Assist providers with examinations and procedures; may serve as a scribe.
• Provide follow up with patients per provider instructions.
