Job summary

Required CA CLS licensure, a Bachelor’s degree in medical lab science or equivalent, and the ability to work variable shifts are essential.

Qualifications

• Current CLS licensure in California.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships across the hospital.
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.
• Willing to work variable shifts and overtime.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
• Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (LA City Employees only).
• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science/Biological Science or Equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing and report results accurately and timely.
• Adhere to quality control policies; document calibrations and maintenance.
• Participate in departmental process improvements and meet turnaround time guidelines.
• Provide empathetic patient and staff interactions.
• Identify and troubleshoot issues affecting test performance and report them as needed.
• Follow procedures for handling and disposing of specimens and hazards.
• Maintain records of proficiency testing and test results.
