Planned Parenthood Los Angeles is seeking a qualified Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS) to join the Long Beach Central Health Center. The CLS will perform laboratory testing, accessioning, processing specimens, and communicating results within CLIA compliance and licensing requirements.

The position requires a California CLS license (ASCP preferred), a Bachelor’s degree, and at least two years of CLS/Medical Technologist experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate major.
• Current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license (ASCP preferred).
• At least two (2) years of recent CLS/Medical Technologist experience in a clinical lab.
• Availability to work Saturdays as needed.
• Capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance.
• Follow safety and infection control practices.
• Must pass any applicable agency qualifying exam(s).
• Open to working in Long Beach, CA.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing in compliance with PPLA policies and licensing requirements.
• Perform DNA amplification tests.
• Report results to PPLA clinics.
• Enter orders and results in LIS and answer clinic questions as capable.
• Assist Laboratory Supervisor to maintain quality records and QA data.
• Perform proficiency testing per CLIA guidelines.
• Maintain inventory of lab supplies and reagents.
• Complete required morbidity reporting.
