Job summary

Keck Hospital of USC is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to perform a variety of biochemical, hematological, microbiological and blood banking analyses in a fast-paced clinical laboratory. The role emphasizes accuracy, reliability and timely reporting of patient results used for diagnosis and treatment.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree, California CLS or Specialty license, and at least 1 year of relevant CLS experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• California CLS license or California Specialty license.
• Minimum 1 year CLS experience with specialized/complex analyses and QC.
• Strong organization and time-management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of GMP and FDA/QA requirements.
• Proficient in basic computer applications including MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Performs manual, semi-automated and automated Biochemical, Hematological, Microbiological and Blood Bank analyses with accuracy and productivity.
• Recognizes normal, abnormal and critical results and acts per lab policy and patient age considerations.
• Communicates results and supports clerical duties to meet department needs.
• Ensures results are available within defined turnaround time guidelines.
• Participates in Quality Assurance and ongoing education; assists in training personnel.
