Job summary

Northwestern Medicine in DeKalb, IL is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist for a full-time, 40-hour-per-week role. The position will be based at the Cancer Center in Kishwaukee Hospital and will float to Delnor and Huntley Cancer Centers when needed.

You will perform tests in a clinical laboratory, verify orders, manage specimens, and communicate results accurately to physicians. The role emphasizes QC, safety, and regulatory compliance within NM's standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related field required.
• General MLS/MT certification (ASCP) or eligible.
• License/certification as applicable per regulations.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic laboratory steps according to SOPs.
• Verify orders and handle specimens with accurate labeling and processing.
• Monitor QC, troubleshoot issues, and communicate results to physicians.
• Ensure compliance with ethics, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Participate in training, quality improvements, and team initiatives.
