Job summary

Northwestern Medicine in Chicago is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform comprehensive testing in the clinical laboratory, ensuring accurate, timely results for patient care.

You will manage pre-analytic workflows, analytical testing, and post-analytical reporting, verify specimens, maintain instruments, perform QC, and collaborate with physicians and nurses while upholding safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or related field and ASCP eligibility.
• General MLS/MT (ASCP) certification or eligible.
• ASCP BB, C, H or M certification or eligible.
• If hired after 1/19/2025 must be ASCP certified (or equivalent) within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Perform all aspects of pre-analytic workflow and verify orders.
• Collect, receive, and process specimens; ensure proper labeling and handling.
• Perform analytical testing per SOP and conduct QC and instrument maintenance.
• Interpret results and provide accurate reports and clinician communication.
• Follow safety, confidentiality, and billing procedures; participate in training and quality improvement.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology / MLS / Clinical Laboratory Science

ASCP Certification or eligible

Categorical BB, C, H or M (ASCP) Certification or eligible
