Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is hiring a Medical Laboratory Scientist in the Immunology Lab at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, IL. This full-time role involves pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic responsibilities to support patient diagnosis and treatment.

The MLS will ensure specimen integrity, perform quality control, interpret results, and communicate effectively with clinicians while complying with ethics and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, MLS, CLS, Chemistry or Biology or related field.
• Certification: General MLS/MT (ASCP) or eligible.
• ASCP categorical BB/C/H/M or eligible.
• If hired after 1/19/2025, must be ASCP certified within one year.
• Licensure/certification as required by regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Performs pre-analytic workflow for test orders and specimen handling.
• Performs analytical testing following SOPs.
• Maintains instrument quality and daily QC.
• Reviews results for accuracy and reports to physicians.
• Ensures safety, confidentiality, and compliance with policies.
• Participates in training and standard operating procedures.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, Biology, or Allied Health qualifying the applicant to take the ASCP, or equivalent certification examination.

General MLS or MT (ASCP) Certification or eligible

Categorical BB, C, H or M (ASCP) Certification or eligible

ASCP certification within one year of employment if hired after 01/19/2025
