Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Laboratory Operations Manager to lead laboratory operations across hospitals and clinics, ensuring efficient, compliant, and cost‑effective performance.

This role supervises staff, drives strategic initiatives, and collaborates with site leaders to meet quality, safety, and financial goals. A Bachelor’s in CLS/Medical Technology, MLS/MT certification, and 3 years’ experience are required; a sign-on bonus is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences or Medical Technology or equivalent.
• MLS/MT certification per ASCP or equivalent.
• Typically requires 3 years of experience in technical laboratory services and operations.
• Demonstrated leadership skills including project management, decision making, delegation, and team building.
• Advanced knowledge of regulatory compliance and accreditation requirements.

Responsibilities

• Oversees day-to-day operations of the department and provides staff guidance.
• Collaborates on enterprise laboratory strategies and standards.
• Monitors budget compliance and analyzes fiscal needs.
• Drives performance improvement to boost teammate engagement and satisfaction.
• Ensures quality, regulatory, accreditation compliance and competency standards are met.
• Coordinates orientation, training, and competency testing of staff and students.
• Develops the team and manages performance and staffing decisions.
• Ensures adherence to the Code of Ethical Conduct and related policies.
