Job summary

Intermountain Health seeks a Clinical Laboratory Technical Consultant to provide technical and scientific oversight across laboratory specialties, including instrument evaluations and validations. You will work with staff, leadership, and QA to implement new technology.

Main duties include establishing SOPs with QC/QA programs aligned to CLIA and CAP guidelines, supporting supervisory tasks, maintaining bench competency, and leading standardization initiatives in Laboratory Services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in laboratory, physical, chemical or biological science (education is verified).
• Five years clinical laboratory experience required.
• Master’s degree preferred and education verified.
• ASCP or equivalent certification preferred and verified.

Responsibilities

• Establish and ensure SOPs with QC/QA programs aligned with CLIA and CAP guidelines.
• Support supervisor with investigations, root cause analysis, training, and competency assessment.
• Maintain bench competency and shifts, and take call as required.
• Lead system Work Groups to support standardization within Laboratory Services.
• Collaborate with Medical Director and QA Coordinator to set performance parameters and monitoring.
• Ensure participation in external proficiency surveys and reporting of corrective actions.
