Job summary

UCI Health in California seeks a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to provide leadership and technical expertise in performing and reporting laboratory tests under the Director of Laboratory Services.

The role includes implementing and maintaining a Quality Assurance program, establishing procedures, troubleshooting instrumentation, and training staff to ensure accuracy, precision and timely patient results.

Qualifications

• Must hold a California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license.
• Ability to perform testing across multiple laboratory disciplines.
• Strong problem-solving and judgment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication in English.
• Ability to implement and maintain a Quality Assurance program.
• Ability to train staff and ensure competency in Quality Controls.
• Demonstrated teamwork and leadership in a laboratory setting.
• Must meet hospital education requirements and safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Lead and ensure accurate, timely performance of laboratory services.
• Perform as Technical Lead CLS in the Director's absence.
• Establish and maintain QA program and PT program.
• Verify test procedures, performance specs, and instrument calibration.
• Troubleshoot technical problems and ensure remedial actions.
• Ensure patient results are reported only after corrective actions.
• Provide in-service education and training on QA findings.
