Job summary

Advocate Health’s Core Lab seeks a Medical Laboratory Technologist to perform a broad range of tests, ensure accuracy, and support patient care across ED, ICU, and OR. You will work within established protocols, maintain equipment, and uphold quality standards.

The role requires interaction with staff, ongoing training, and compliance with accreditation. Full-time day shift with rotating weekends/holidays, at the Christ: Core Lab in IL.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences.
• Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Medical Technology or related field.
• MT/MLS or AMT certification to be obtained within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Performs, evaluates, and monitors laboratory tests per established protocols.
• Evaluates results for clinical significance and reports findings.
• Documents calibration, maintenance, and repair of instruments.
• Performs quality control and quality assurance activities.
• Collects specimens from newborn to adult patients per protocol.
• Provides training and guidance to lab staff and students.
• Ensures compliance with accrediting standards and CAP requirements.
• Performs specialty testing across transfusion, microbiology, chemistry, hematology, histology, coagulation, and flow cytometry.
• Supports critical care departments with timely results during high acuity events.
