Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or Bachelor of Science in an applicable science with two years of related clinical laboratory experience.
• OR an Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology with four years of related clinical laboratory experience.
• Blood bank experience preferred due to lab volumes.

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic (waived, moderate, and highly complex) testing on blood and other specimens and reports results.
• Calibrates, conducts performance checks, and maintains instruments; recognizes and corrects basic malfunctions.
• Prepares reagents or media per procedures or literature.
• Conducts and documents quality control procedures; evaluates QC results and implements corrective action.
• Orients and supervises students and new staff as needed.
• Monitors quality improvement and participates in data collection for QI indicators.
• Develops new programs and monitors effectiveness as part of a multi-functional team.
• Participates in continuing education and shares knowledge through presentations.
