Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a phlebotomy technician to perform venipuncture, specimen handling, and patient data entry in a busy outpatient lab. Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certified phlebotomy course completed.
• Minimum 120 hours of clinical phlebotomy experience.
• ASCP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify patients using two identifiers (name and DOB).
• Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture.
• Respond to STAT requests within 30 minutes and timed specimens within ±15 minutes.
• Perform EKGs using GE carts and MUSE software.
• Enter patient data into the HIS and verify insurance where applicable.
• Transport and store specimens per lab procedures.
• Provide guidance to students and new staff.
