Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Central Processing Assistant in the Outpatient Lab to collect and transport blood specimens, perform EKGs, and handle patient registration and insurance verification for outpatient services.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Successful completion of a certified phlebotomy course
• Minimum: Completion of 120 hours of clinical experience

Responsibilities

• Proper identification of the patient using two identifies: name and date of birth.
• Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture (finger and heel sticks).
• Respond to STAT blood work requests within 30 minutes and timed specimen requests within +/- 15 minutes.
• Utilize ROVER for inpatient blood draws and perform EKGs using GE carts and MUSE software.
