Job summary

Advocate Health's Wilkes Medical Center - Lab is seeking a dedicated lab technician to perform phlebotomy, specimen processing, and routine testing within a 36-hour work week. The role includes patient registration, phone support, and strict adherence to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities include maintaining supplies, documenting test results, and training new staff where needed, while complying with OSHA guidelines and lab policies.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required; phlebotomy cert preferred where applicable.
• Knowledge of lab procedures and safety practices.
• Familiar with lab information systems and standard work.

Responsibilities

• Collect and process patient blood samples via venipuncture/capillary methods.
• Prepare and transport specimens; assist in registration and documentation.
• Provide phone support for patient care areas in a courteous manner.
• Maintain equipment, supplies, and clean workspace; follow PPE rules.
• Perform routine lab tests and report results to staff.
