Job summary

Advocate Health's Wilkes Medical Center Lab is hiring a Laboratory Technician for a full-time 36-hour week. Weekend shifts run Friday through Sunday, 5:00am–5:30pm, with benefits eligibility.

You will collect blood by venipuncture and capillary puncture, process specimens, prepare via standard procedures, register patients, and support clinical staff while maintaining safety and documentation in accordance with OSHA standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certification in phlebotomy preferred for facilities where phlebotomy is an assigned duty.

Responsibilities

• Collect and/or process patient blood via venipuncture and/or capillary puncture in a timely and accurate manner.
• Process nonblood patient specimens in a timely and accurate fashion.
• Assist in specimen preparation, receipt, and transport of patient specimens.
• Perform phlebotomy through venous and capillary puncture following established procedures.
• Maintain documentation for all tests and comply with OSHA safety standards.
