Job summary

TriCore Reference Laboratories is hiring a Clinical Lab Assistant who can work independently with minimal supervision. Compensation depends on the number of modalities performed and an apprenticeship option is available for candidates with no experience.

Regular attendance during scheduled hours is essential. Qualified applicants will have a high school diploma, phlebotomy experience, and immunization records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• ASCP certification preferred.
• Completion of a Clinical Lab Assistant or comparable program.
• Immunization against Hepatitis B or waiver.
• Eligible to work in a health care facility per state law.
• Valid driver’s license and insurability by lab carrier.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties in a professional and courteous manner.
• Maintain supplies and inventory for department.
• Supervise and mentor students or new staff as needed.
• Demonstrate problem-solving to ensure patient care and service levels.
• Coordinate hospital communications and on-call responsibilities as assigned.
• Utilize effective telephone and verbal communication skills.
• Display professional judgment with clients, patients and co-workers.
• Handle clerical tasks including documenting critical communications when supervisor is absent.
• Maintain confidentiality of position and data access.
• Participate in on-call coverage to meet service levels.
• Share in holiday, evening, and weekend coverage when required.
• Demonstrate basic PC skills.
